Automated License Plate Recognition Policy

To help prevent and remedy unauthorized use of our facilities we sometimes use technologies that read and store information about vehicle license plates (ALPR Data).  Pursuant to California Civil Code Section 1798.90.5 we strictly limit the use of ALPR Data.  We do not share it with third parties except in limited circumstances:

  • When companies perform services on our behalf necessary to use the technology; or
  • To comply with legal process or in other cases if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law

We will not provide ALPR Data to law enforcement or other third parties pursuant to a legal process unless such request has been approval by counsel and the ALPR Data custodian, the Director of Security Systems Technology & Strategy.

We also use technical, administrative and physical security measures that are designed to protect ALPR Data from unauthorized access, disclosure, use and modification including information security training for all individuals authorized to access ALPR Data. ALPR Data is deleted automatically after a brief period unless the custodian receives notice that a longer retention period is required by legal process.

If you have questions about this ALPR Policy, including concerns about the accuracy of any ALPR Data collected about you, please send an email to caprivacy.wdig@twdc.com or write us:
